Brown Auction & Real Estate is run by Scott Brown, whose father was into auctioning since he was 10 years old. He remembers running tickets, holding items up for sale and bringing drinks. Then after several years, Scott 'yelped' and became interested in catching the bids. He practiced for several years with the numbers and was later handed the microphone. He has become better at selling ever since that day. In 1976, Scott’s father had an unfortunate automobile accident that killed him. Scott then used what he learned to manage Brown Auction & Real Estate. He runs the business together with Susan Brown, who handles identification, typing, input and assembly of cataloged auctions. Susan is the secretary and office manager who personally answers phone calls and inquiries. Susan is believed to be the glue that holds the business in place. The family-oriented business also sees Susan as the mother or grandmother of the crew. The family operation also includes Traci Gumpenberger, Scott and Susan’s oldest daughter. Traci is also a local, and lives in the original home farm with her husband Brian and their three children. Traci finished her masters in accounting and works at the local farm operation full-time while her husband is a self-employed contractor.
