Carol, sadly, passed in 2012 and left David with 30 years of fond memories. Dave is in his 80’s now and feels it is time to let go of his wonderful collection and allow others to enjoy what he and Carol enjoyed for so long. **Additional Items and Photos will be added as the days progress until catalog completion. Cash and Approved checks will be accepted until 2:00pm EDT on Friday, October 30. After that, ALL outstanding invoices will be charged to the credit card on file with Hibid. We try to identify any chips, cracks, tears, breaks, issues with items, however, we could miss something. All items are sold as is where is with all defects and faults. Lot 1 | 1828-35 Riley Whiting Carved Column & Crest

Mr. Whiting died in 1835 but he was quite prolific in the early 1830's, with numerous examples of similar clocks. This 30 hour wooden works shelf clock measures approx. 17.5" x 5" x 35". Missing key to open and lock. The mahogany veneer is in excellent shape. The very nice tablet "St. Brides Avenue, Loundon" is repainted on the old glass, unsigned; the dial glass is original.

 

Lot 2 | Early 19th Cen. American Pillar & Scroll Clock

Smith Blakesley, referring to the famous Connecticut clockmaker Milo Blakesley (often operating as M. & E. Blakeslee or in partnership with other regional makers such as Smith, Tuttle & Blakeslee). Measures approx. 17.5" x 4.5" x 32". 30-day works, with original reverse painted tablet. Circa 1820. Has a broken scroll on top.

American stoneware food storage vessel before home refrigeration was invented. Smooth cream white drip glaze, salt glaze vessel.

 

Lot 115 | Salt Glazed Stoneware Pitcher w/ Lid

Folk art pottery jug that could have been used for milk storage. There are no markings found. There is a picture with the size.

 

Lot 116 | Embossed Leaf Yellow Ware Stoneware Pitcher

It has a ribbed fluted body and leaf berry pattern along the upper rim. Distinct mold design that was heavily produced by pottery companies.

 

Lot 117 | 1860-1880 Cobalt Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock

Size are in pictures. It is decorated with a hand-painted cobalt blue leaf. Used primarily for preserving things like butter, pickled vegetables and salted meats.
