History of the Beck Ranch:
After working as a ranch hand in the Nebraska Sandhills, Duane and Donna Beck moved their young family to the Oconto area and established the ranch in 1965. Over the years, Duane and Donna, along with their son Cody, continually improved the property with livestock facilities, fencing, water lines, buildings, natural shelterbelts and improvements to the home.
Following in his parents’ footsteps, Cody continued to operate and care for the ranch, maintaining the same emphasis on good stewardship and sound livestock management. The grassland has been well managed, with consistent control of cedar trees and musk thistle throughout the property.
Today, the Beck Ranch reflects more than 60 years of work and care by the Beck family and provides an opportunity for a new owner to continue that tradition.
The Beck Ranch
Land Location: From Oconto, 2 miles southeast on Highway 40 and 3/4 mile south on Rd. 434. From Eddyville, 10 miles northwest on Highway 40 and 3/4 mile south on Rd. 434.

About the Land: 560 Acres, more or less, according to Custer County Assessor’s records. The property consists of approximately 82.8 acres of non-irrigated cropland, with the balance primarily grassland and a well-maintained home and building site with extensive livestock facilities.
Livestock water is provided by an electric submersible well with underground pipeline serving several tank locations, a windmill with electric submersible pump set up for generator use, an additional windmill and three dams.
The building site has been exceptionally well maintained and features an established set of cattle handling facilities, a 2-bedroom home and several useful outbuildings. The home includes Andersen windows, central heating and air conditioning, and a septic system.
Improvements include a 40′ × 60′ steel-frame building with concrete floor; 24′ × 30′ garage with two overhead doors and concrete floor; 16′ × 50′ metal-sided storage building; 24′ × 36′ wood-frame barn; and 16′ × 28′ open-front shed. The building site and livestock facilities are protected by an established natural shelterbelt.
Note: Hydraulic cattle chute, approximately 26 in-line feed bunks, and all stored feed, including silage and hay, are not included in the sale but may be negotiated separately with their owner. All other personal property located in the home, buildings or elsewhere on the property is not included unless specifically stated otherwise.
